FEE-HELP LOANS
HELPING ELIGIBLE STUDENTS PAY FOR ALL OR PART OF THEIR TUITION
Our Practical Legal Training program has academic status as a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice which means you may be eligible for a FEE-HELP loan.
FEE‑HELP is a loan scheme that assists eligible students pay all or part of their tuition fees. It does not cover study costs such as accommodation and textbooks.
Loans are only available to Australian citizens or to students who hold a permanent humanitarian visa. Loans are also only available to students who undertake at least part of their PLT in Australia.
You can apply for a FEE-HELP loan when completing your online enrolment form.

Upfront Payment
If you are using FEE-HELP, you are not required to make an upfront payment (since the cost of the course is repayable through the tax system after you begin working).
If you are not using FEE-HELP, you are required to pay the full course fee when submitting your application to enrol in Practical Legal Training.

BURSARY SCHEME
The College of Law has a bursary scheme that
covers a limited number of positions. To be eligible, you must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and show that you
are experiencing financial hardship to the extent that it prevents you from
being able to pay for the program.
If you are eligible for FEE-HELP, it will be difficult to satisfy this criterion.

Tax Deduction
You may be able to claim a tax deduction for the cost of self-education at the time the expense was incurred.

Personal Loans
You have the option to pay for Practical Legal Training using a personal bank loan. The Money Manager website has a personal loan online comparison tool that may help you choose the right loan.
INCIDENTAL FEES
FEE-HELP only covers tuition fees and does not typically apply to incidental fees. These fees are in accordance with the rules and policies outlined in the Program Manual.

WITHDRAWALS & REFUNDS
If you wish to withdraw, you must submit your notice of withdrawal in writing on or before the census date. The census date is the last date you can withdraw from a subject without financial penalty.
Refunds will not be given after the census date (other than in exceptional circumstances which are at the College’s discretion).
If you have applied for FEE-HELP, you may withdraw on or before the census date without incurring a Commonwealth debt. After the census date, you become liable to repay the tuition fees via the tax system.
