NEW SOUTH WALES AND QUEENSLAND

From 1 January 2024, new rules from regulators in New South Wales and Queensland will impact how students attend the Practical Legal Training (PLT) program for all PLT providers.

You must attend onsite workshops unless you have special circumstances or a disability.

You can ask to attend online workshops during enrolment for the following reasons:

  • Disability (as defined by s4 of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992)
  • Exceptional circumstances
    • Financial hardship
    • Carers responsibilities
    • Sad news/sorry business
    • Death of a close relative or close friend
    • Hardship or trauma
    • Employer directed redeployment
    • Legal commitments (such as court appearances or jury duty)
  • Religious/cultural observance
  • Commitment as an elite athlete
  • Engaged in defence service (in accordance with the Defence Reserve Service (Protection) Act 2001)

This change only applies to workshop attendance. The rest of your program will remain online.
