About This Course


In this on-demand online seminar following issues will be addressed:

  • Understanding communication changes in the progression of dementia (participants will be able to plan for changes in communication)
  • Awareness of behaviour changes that can arise (participants will be able to discern how actions can influence behaviour in dementia)
  • Practice tips to engage and support clients and their carers (participants will learn strategies for positive interaction)

Presenter biography

Pam Davis, Dementia Educator at Alzheimer's Australia NSW

Pam is currently employed with Alzheimer’s Australia NSW as a Senior Educator, responsible for the development and delivery of professional, carer and volunteer dementia education.

Pam has worked with people with dementia for the past 32 years in both residential aged care and community care settings.  Her roles have included direct support, coordination and case management. 

Pam has been employed in both local and federal governments in community development and project management roles.  She has also managed a private home support agency.

Pam has had extensive experience working with staff and carers through these programs and has provided carers with information, education, advocacy and support. 

Pam has qualifications in Dementia, Home Science, Leisure and Recreation, Case Management and Workplace Assessment and Training.  Pam is also accredited in ‘Montessori for Dementia’ a rehabilitative therapy program for the person with dementia, using Montessori methods of engagement in meaningful activities.
