College of Law WA Holds Successful APLEC Conference

Published on 17 November 2015
The College of Law WA welcomed 53 delegates to the Australiasian Professional Legal Education Council 2015 Conference last week.

"It was a fantastic for all of us in WA to be able to welcome not only our PLT colleagues from around Australia, Papua & New Guinea, Fiji, Hong Kong and New Zealand but in particular to be able to welcome so many of our College colleagues from the other Australian and New Zealand Colleges to Perth."said Michael Cole, Executive Director of the College in WA.

"The welcome to country by local indigenous leader Barry McGuire  was very moving.  Keynote speaker Professor Gilly Salmon encouraged attendees to use their creative skills to consider the needs of our future Practical Legal Training (PLT) students having regard to the graduates' approaches to learning. Presenters from the College and other PLT providers capitalised on Professor Salmon’s workshop and panelists from the profession provided a challenging insight into the needs of the profession and the skills that future lawyers are likely to need.  Being able to show case one of our iconic venues (in Fremantle) was also a great privilege."
