What the subject is about
There are certain professional skills that are fundamental to the practice of law.
This subject covers those professional skills. You will also have an opportunity to practise those skills in other subjects of the professional program.
Subject aim and objectives
The aim is to assist you to become competent in the elements of professional skills which are covered in the following units.
At the end of this subject you will be able to demonstrate competence, in each element of professional skills, by:
coursework, including (where programmed) participating in workshops, in:
Unit 1 Communicating Effectively
Unit 2 Interviewing Clients
Unit 3 Writing and Drafting
Unit 4 Negotiation and Early Dispute Resolution
Unit 5 Representing a Client in Court
practising the skills in other subjects.
Assessment method & value
Satisfactory/Not Satisfactory based on coursework and participation in all activities.
You must satisfactorily participate in the Negociation and Early Dispute Resolution (EDR) workshop unless you have been granted credit.
