Court Admission Process
The College of Law offers approved practical legal training through the Professional Programs for admission in NSW, ACT, NT, VIC and QLD. For admission in WA, TAS and SA the process is by application for admission via Mutual Recognition following admission in one of the above jurisdictions.
It is recommended that you contact the admission authority in the jurisdiction in which you wish to apply to ensure that your qualifications are sufficient and cover the subjects prescribed for admission (eg Legal Ethics or Professional Conduct).

Overseas Practitioners

Practical Legal Training requirements
The College of Law Professional Program is an approved method of practical legal training enabling admission as a legal practitioner in:
- New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory, Queensland, Victoria
- other states through the mutual recognition scheme.
Proof of qualification from the College
A Letter of Completion of the Professional Program, sufficient for the purposes of the LPAB's requirements for admission, will be issued to you as soon as possible after completion of all three components of the Professional Program. Before the issue of the letter, you must complete all program requirements and submit all required forms and evidence of your law degree or diploma to the College no later than two weeks prior to the court admission application lodgment deadline i.e. six weeks before the admission date.
College Graduation
College students who have completed all components of the Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice are eligible to attend a graduation ceremony and have their Graduate Diploma conferred. If you are unable to attend, you may request your Diploma to be mailed to you.
Formal graduation ceremonies are held each year in November. If you wish to attend a graduation ceremony, you must provide the Enrolments Office with original documentary evidence of your qualification in law (your academic transcript or degree, testamur or diploma) or a copy certified by a solicitor or Justice of the Peace.
Attendance at a graduation ceremony is not required in order to be admitted.
