UWS Students

This information applies to UWS students undertaking cross institutional study at The College of Law.

The College of Law offers the Professional Program UWS for UWS students as an adjunct to GDLP studies undertaken at UWS. Please consider the changes set out below carefully. They affect all UWS Law and GDLP students, you should consider their effect on you.


Eligibility for the Professional Program – UWS students
Students must seek approval from the UWS Head of Program GDLP to undertake cross Institutional study at the College of Law. Approval will be granted automatically provided that students are not enrolled in more than 20 credit points in their UWS law degree course and students have satisfactorily completed F7031 at UWS.

Students must also supply, on application to the College, a letter from the School of Law, UWS confirming their eligibility to enrol in the program.


Requirements on Completion
Once the cross institutional study has been completed students must advise UWS by filling in an academic credit application form.


Program Components
The cross institutional study consists of the following subjects of the coursework component of the NSW Professional Program:

•  Civil Litigation Practice
•  Commercial and Corporate Practice
•  Property Practice
•  One elective from Consumer Law Practice. Employment and Industrial Relations Practice, Planning and Environmental Law Practice or Wills and Estates Practice.


Program Fee
The full Program Fee for UWS students is $3768. Payment can be made upfront or through a FEE-HELP application.

Autumn 2008 Commencement

Students are required to attend The College of Law at St Leonards during the UWS Intra session break during the week of the 21 April 2008 for 2 or 3 days from 9am to 5pm and again during UWS Stuvac during the week of 2 June 2008 for 2 days from 10am to 4pm to complete various assessment tasks and exams.

• Enrol by 11 February 2008
• Commencing on 25 February 2008
• Census date is 25 March 2008
• UWS Intra session break commences on 21 April 2008
• UWS Stuvac session commences on 2 June 2008
• Course end date is 27 June 2008

Spring 2008 Commencement - Course Code N086UWS
Students are required to attend The College of Law at St Leonards during the UWS Intra session break during the week of the 22 September 2008 for 2 or 3 days from 9am to 5pm and again during UWS Stuvac during the week of 3 November 2008 for 2 days from 10am to 4pm to complete various assessment tasks and exams.

• Enrol by 14 July 2008
• Commencing on 28 July 2008
• Census date is 27 August 2008
• UWS Intra session break commences on 22 September 2008
• UWS Stuvac session commences on 3 November 2008
• Course end date is 28 November 2008

Students will need to be mindful of their workload as the cross institutional workload for UWS students at The College of Law is equivalent to about 25 hours per week study and is the UWS equivalent of 40 credit points.
