Practical Legal Training Programs and Courses

The College of Law offers you the relevant Practical Legal Training to assist you in making the transition from law student to practising lawyer.

Entry level lawyers are eligible for admission to the legal profession if they can demonstrate, to the relevant admitting authority, that they have acquired the knowledge, values, attitudes and skills required to work competently as an entry level lawyer.

PLT Programs are the most direct and concise route to direct admission in Australia and New Zealand.

Our PLT Program is a coursework degree/certificate that provides structured and supervised legal training, based on the Competency Standards for Entry Level Lawyers developed by the admitting authorities and the Australian Professional Legal Education Council (APLEC).

The Practical Legal Training curriculum is designed to:

  • equip you with the practical skills and knowledge necessary to work competently as an entry level lawyer, and
  • satisfy the practical legal training requirements of the admitting authorities
