The Circumstances in which an Accused Person can make an Application for Costs following an Unsuccessful Prosecution
The aim of this seminar is to equip criminal lawyers, upon a criminal charge being withdrawn by the prosecution or dismissed by the Court, to make an application for professional costs incurred by an accused person to be paid by the State.

Russell Sweet is engaged in full-time practice at the Sydney Bar. Although he practices in most jurisdictions, Mr Sweet's practice has a significant criminal component, he having appeared at Courts throughout New South Wales from the level of a suburban Local Court to the Court of Criminal Appeal.
After being admitted as a solicitor in 1980, and practising as the litigation partner of a large provincial practice, Mr Sweet was admitted to the Bar in 1987. He holds a Master of Laws Degree from the University of Sydney together with a Bachelor of Laws Degree and Bachelor of Arts Degree from Macquarie University. He has delivered a number of papers at various seminars including one at New South Wales Bar Association Conference at Canberra in 2007.
