In-house Practice
Master of Applied Law (In-house Practice)
This masters of law course, unlike an LLM, focuses on the practical legal and commercial realities of being an in-house lawyer. It has been developed in consultation with the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association (ACLA) to assist you to become a more effective in-house lawyer or help you make the transition to an in-house role, and is designed to suit the needs of both corporate and government in-house lawyers.

The Program is delivered primarily online via the College’s Learning Portal. It offers a high degree of flexibility and is designed to accommodate the needs of busy practitioners.
To qualify for a Master of Applied Law (In-house Practice) you must complete a total of seven subjects. You can choose to exit the Program at an earlier stage and be awarded a Graduate Diploma of Applied Law (In-house Practice) or a Graduate Certificate in Applied Law (In-house Practice).
Should I enrol?
The Program is suitable for:
- corporate and government lawyers who want to expand their skills and knowledge
- lawyers in private practice looking to move to an in-house role
- lawyers in private practice wanting to better understand their corporate or government clients
- student who have completed, or partially completed, the six subject Graduate Diploma of In-house Legal Practice previous offered by the College
To enroll, you must hold a law degree or equivalent qualification (LLB, LLM or LPAB Diploma of Law) or hold another degree and have substantial work experience in a quasi-legal role.
If you do not satisfy these criteria, or you do not want to enroll in an award program, you can enroll in a single subject only.
