What is this subject about?
Establishing a legal practice and managing that practice for growth can be difficult. The particular pressures facing many family law clients brings with it additional considerations when managing a family law practice.
This subject equips students with various methodologies to effectively develop and manage a family law practice.
What will I learn while studying this subject?
At the end of this subject you will be able to:
- apply principles of strategic and business planning to a family law practice
- demonstrate an understanding of matters of financial management such as pricing models, leverage, financial indicators and benchmarks
- identify risk and understand how to manage that risk
- be confident in people management including staff and clients

How will I be assessed?
This subject has the following assessments:
- develop a business plan (60%)
- advice relating to leveraging for productivity and profit (20%)
- client engagement/risk management (20%)
If you enrol in this as a single subject on a non-award basis then you do not have to complete the assessment.
