Now Seeking Expressions of Interest in a Full-Time Townsville PLT Course
PLT - Pre-admission Training for Lawyers
The College of Law Queensland offers the training (PLT and Traineeship) you must complete to be admitted as a lawyer and practise anywhere in Australia.
We are the largest national PLT provider and our Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice is recognised nationally and internationally.
We are seeking expressions of interest in a full-time Townsville PLT course commencing online 5 October 2009. The online component would finish 15 weeks later on 22 January 2010.
Included in the period is a two week face-to-face skills training onsite on JCU campus 23 November - 4 December.
Some feedback from our students who attended our recent Townsville onsite held in July 2009:
- Incredibly practical hands-on course. Great groups of people and the smaller class numbers were great for more personal interaction and feedback.
- The Advocacy workshop took the scary part of public speaking out of court addresses. Sharing experiences from the lecturer and other students was helpful in showing that others experience the same doubts, insecurities, etc.
- It was good to get an organised way of approaching interviews - being well-prepared makes the task less daunting.
- Very practical, hands-on workshop.
- It gave me a structure to work with, which was good.
We are fortunate to have the support of the local profession and include local Townsville practitioners in our teaching panel wherever possible.
Our course structure is easy to follow - 15 weeks coursework (including the face-to-face component), 15 weeks work experience (in certain circumstances up to 8 weeks undergraduate work experience may be claimed) and an online Continuing Professional Education Component. For more information on our Program components please see: Practical Legal Training Program - Queensland
The fee is $6850 (Australian citizens and permanent residents) and FEE-HELP is available. For FEE-HELP information please see: FEE-HELP Loans
In order to enrol, you would need to have completed your core subjects and have little or nothing in the way of undergraduate assessment outstanding. We would be happy to discuss your individual circumstances to check whether you comply with our entry requirements. The course is subject to minimum numbers.
If you are interested in the course and or have any questions could you please email Catherine Kenny on ckenny@collaw.edu.au by Tuesday 1 September.
