Honourable Justice Robert Benjamin, Family Court of Australia, Says that Legal Training in Australia is Second to None

In his address at the recent New South Wales spring graduation ceremony, The Honourable Justice Robert Benjamin, Family Court of Australia, spoke about the high quality of legal training in Australia while congratulating the graduates.

Students Evelyn Lim and Alysia Debowski were recognised for their excellence. Joe Catanzariti, Chair, The College of Law Board of Directors and Vice President of the Law Society of NSW, awarded Alysia Debowski the Law Society of NSW Prize for Overall Excellence, and Evelyn Lim the Law Society of NSW Prize for Professional Responsibility.

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Alysia Debowski, a graduate of Melbourne University now working at Freehills, said, “We can see the value the College has added to our capabilities. It has provided us with essential skills that will assist us throughout our legal careers. At university we heard about the law – but may have forgotten a great deal of what we were taught. In a law firm, if we are offered that chance, we may see legal practice in action. But it is only through doing, and The College of Law, that we have come to understand what legal practice is all about.”
