Experts on Family Law Gather to Speak at the Advanced Family Law Weekend in Sydney

Leading family law professionals will be speaking at the Advanced Family Law Weekend 2008, which will be held in Sydney this weekend and is hosted by The College of Law in conjunction with the Family Law Practitioners Association of NSW.

The Hon Justice Peter Rose, Family Court Australia, will deliver this year's highlight speech - the 2008 David Opas Memorial Lecture - entitled "The Evolution of the Expert Witness". This annual lecture is named in honour of David Opas, a pioneering family law judge, renowned for his humane and patient approach to the law. Opas was tragically shot in 1980 and is thought to be the first judge to be killed whilst holding office in Sydney.
