Meet the Team

Professor Leon Trakman - Consultant
Professor Leon Trakman is an internationally recognised educator, arbitrator and mediator with over 30 years experience. A Professor of Law, he has held professor appointments at the University of Wisconsin (Madison), the University of Cape Town, Dalhousie University, Tulane University and is a former Dean of Law at the University of New South Wales.  Active as a trade adjudicator, he is one of the most extensively appointed adjudicators under the NAFTA. Professor Trakman received BComm and LLB degrees at the University of Cape Town and an LLM and Doctorate in the Science of Law from Harvard. He is a barrister in New South Wales and a Barrister and Solicitor in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Louise Wilson - Project Manager
Louise Wilson is admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales, where she practised for five years in a variety of roles, both in private practice and as in-house counsel. Louise holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Laws degree with honours from the Australian National University and a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge. Louise has worked in legal publishing for the past eleven years, and has extensive experience in strategy development, project management and product development.

Ray James - Lecturer
LLB (USyd), Master of Dispute Resolution (UTS), LLM (UTS)
Ray was admitted as a Solicitor in July 1972 and has been a Consultant to a suburban practice since 1986. Ray specialises in family law, de facto relationships law and deceased estate litigation.
Ray was appointed as Lecturer at The College of Law in 2001 and has t au ght in all areas of the College curriculum, and both online and face to face programs. Ray has t au ght the Family Law Elective since 2001 and was involved in 2007 in a complete rewrite of all Family Law materials used by the College.

Outside of his work at the College Ray is a marathon and ultra-marathon runner. He has so far completed almost 100 marathons and in 2006 ran a marathon in under 3 hours, which placed him in the top 10 in the world for his age that year. He also completed for the second year in a row a 175km ultra marathon on bush trails in the north of Sydney in just under 35 hours.

Kathy Chase
Kathy is an experienced practitioner, having worked at E&A Lawyers since 2002, as well as previously undertaking work on behalf of the Australian Government involving the investigation of plaintiff claims in the “Stolen Generation” cases and operating her own legal practice. Kathy is also a member of the Law Society Speaker’s Bureau and has given lectures to local community groups in this role.

Rachel Robins - Senior Instructional Designer
Rachel Robins has been involved with the College of Law's Professional Program Online (PPO) courses since their inception, and joined the ALP team in 2007. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Education: Computers in Education and has recently completed a Master of Arts in e-Learning. Prior to joining the College Rachel worked for e-learning provider Catalyst Interactive as a programmer and instructional designer, working on CD ROM and e-learning courses for the public and corporate sectors. She has worked on the New Zealand, Queensland and Victorian implementations of the PPO, and the College's new Graduate Diploma of In-house Legal Practice, launched in 2007.

Jacinta Greig – Project Coordinator
Jacinta Greig joined the ALP team in October 2006 as Project Coordinator. She has a Bachelor of Arts (Literature) Degree from the Australian Catholic University and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology from the Charles Sturt University. Jacinta has worked in various administration roles for the past 8 years including working in the editorial and product development areas of a global publishing firm for the tax, legal and employment sectors. She also spent time working for a non-for-profit organisation, SoLA (Society for Organisational Learning).
